Martha was the sister of Lazarus and asked Jesus to come to their house when Lazarus died and when Jesus revived Lazarus. Here she is shown with a jar of ointment, which she would have taken to Jesus' tomb to anoint his body. This statue of Martha is thought to have been by the Master of Chaource.
