Fall 2010 - A Selection
Here is a selection of photos from our trip to France. We started out in Albi, where the Cathedral has just been designated a UNESCO World Heritage site. It is the largest brick cathedral in France and built in fortress style after the defeat of the heretic Albigensians in the 13th century. An ethic cleansing. The up to the Pilgrimmage Church of Conques, perched on a hillside in the mountains north of Rodez. It was patronized by Charlemangne and famous for its relics of St. Foy, an 11 year old martyr. On to Bourges and Paris (no shots there, bad weather) and then near Avallong in Burgundy where we visited Vezelay, Tournus and Saulieu (a little church with exquisite capitals).
